I just got back my Honda 420 2013 from servicing - they were working on the inline coolant heater and I'm rather sure they forgot to put a piece back on. Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure but I swear there was something protecting that area. I don't remember it ever being that open. Am I crazy?

Is there something I can do to protect that CV joint on the front drive axle? My 500 has considerably more plastic guards in that area to protect the drove shaft

Main reason this all happened is I noticed the boot protecting the front joint was more or less falling off. I pulled it back up yesterday, looks like the ice just forced it off mm by mm. Rather worried that there is a lack of grease now. As I didn't notice much of any grease when pulling the cover up

Honda makes nice aluminum skid plates and if you google "aluminum skid plates for Honda ATV" you will find many options. Another idea is to pick up a piece of high density plastic 4'x8'x1/4" and make whatever you want. I have found that kind of high density plastic at Menards for about $50 and easy to work with and you will have plenty left over for numerous other projects...
