Assuming this is a 300 it would be far easier to add the cotter pin to the castle nut. Thread lock is a bad idea in such an awkward place.Need to tighten the lower stem nut. Seems to loosen up every little while. Plan is to add some loctite blue one so I don’t have the issue. What size is the nut. Partzilla says 14mm but it’s way bigger than that.
I can’t remember either, it’s been a while since I replaced mine, was a real PITA too!19mm wrench fits the 420's and 500's. Not sure about the smaller bikes.
he asked in first post, size of nut, i read it 3 times..but I've had a long day..lol.I think what the Original post was asking is , which one to use , a 14mm thread nut for a 4x4 300 steering , or a 12mm nut for a 2x4 300 and not the size of the hex , I maybe be wrong !
your welcome, glad i could help ya !I’m looking for the size of the nut so I can put a wrench on it and tighten it.

You think I should use a little blue loctite on it?
Sam was spot on, partzilla and your manual tend to tell you the thread size of the nut. Why? Idk sounds pretty stupid and can confuse some people *cough* [guilty] glad you got it figured out.Assuming this is a 300 it would be far easier to add the cotter pin to the castle nut. Edit: 14mm is probably the thread size, so it would be 21/22mm
