I'm going to go have a look at a 2004 Honda Foreman ES with about 8k miles on it. In th pic's that I received it appeares to be in good overall condition and the price is right. Is there anything particular that I should watch out for in this quad other than CV axles and such?

Also it has electric shift. Does it have a back-up foot shift as well? What CC is thi quad?

Thanks

It should have an adapter in the tool kit for a manual shifter. The enginer is 450....or about 433 if I recall.

Start it when cold and make sure it starts easily. If it's warm when you go look, tell them you'll come back another day and ask them to leave it cold. When cold, start it and then ride it immediately and make sure it shifts through all gears and into reverse. Shift it in and out 4wd while you are riding it several times and make sure it switches and you get no error codes.

Depending on the condition, for a machine with 8k miles I wouldn't give more than 2k. I sold an 04 this spring that had 1800 miles for 3k, but I got a great price for it. I had bought it last fall for $2600

Pain gave you some good advice. Note that the manual shifter in the tool kit is not a permanent foot shifter. It is only to place over the shift shaft to manually put the ATV into a gear low enough that you can drive in case the electric shift malfunctions and it's stuck in a higher gear. It don't actually permanently attach to the shifter, so you can't use it as a foot shifter. You shift it, by hand using the shifter tool, into the gear that you want and then you take it back off or it will fall off and you will lose it. I just wanted to be sure you were clear on how that works.

It' hard to really see it in those pics. If you can clean it up it will show better. The tires look like they are OK, as far as I can see.

As long as it passed the tests I list above, offer 1500 and see if he bites.

Looks pretty good but 8000 is a lot of miles.

I agree^^^^^ But I would start at 1200.00 I know it's low but there is room for mediation.
