Hi, I'm new the the forumn

I have been wanting to get an ATV for awhile and was at the dealer looking at the 2008 700xx. The dealer said he could sell it to me for 5050.00 OTD to tax out of state. Seems like a good deal to me and from what I've researched a good ATV for the type of terrain I normally ride on. I live in WV and ride mostly rocky, muddy, backwoods trails and roads. I ride mostly with 4x4, rinos, razors, and some sport ATV's. I want something that will not beat the crap out of me on long bumpy rides but can get up an go. I have limited experience owning ATV's but have owned KX 80, KX 125, Honda Foreman 500 4x4, 2003 Honda Rinocon 4x2.

I have a few questions.

How well do they go in mud and water? (not submerged but top of tires)

Can you ride a passenger semi-comfortably?

How much do you have to work the clutch?(can you cruise around in 2nd or 3rd without constantly shifting)

Are the reliable like most Honda's? ($5055.00 seems like its to good to be true when the MSRP is $7999.99)

Will it be hard to get parts in 4-5 years?

any advice, expertise, or experience is greatly appreciated

Thanks

I am a mud lover...never miss a mud hole... I have been stuck before but the 4x4's did to in the same mud holes...I have been thru streams that started turning me around because it was so deep... so my personally feeling is if you think you can handle it the xx will get you through it, the 700XX is truly amazing in all situations... she really shines in the woods. The clearance is amazing on this beast and there is no hill she cant climb!

You could ride a passenger but you can on a moped too... semi-comfortable would be my guess at best...

shifting is easy on this quad...I switched to a 13t and I can buzz around 2nd easier...

If you are looking to save some more money and dont mind preowned check
out Club700XX.com :: Your #1 Honda TRX700XX Online Resource! atvs for sale someone has a 08' about 30 hours.. I think with trailer for sale for 3500...but $5055 is a good deal for a new one but I have seen other members get it for less to depending on the state...

I dont feel it would be, we have more and more aftermarket parts every month...but you never know.

I felt the shocks where the only downfall of this quad...but the ds450's fit it with lil grinding for a bargin price of $150...

If you are looking for a sport quad that has IRS this is it...if you want to have the ability to ride it like a SRA buy the new L8ton Racing sway bar...

I have had mine for over a year now and she is ridden twice a week...I have changed her oil a few times and inspected the valves and she is running like a queen!

I would like to say you wont be disappointed but I cant speak for you, for myself best money I ever spent and I would buy another one tomorrow!
