Hey folks -

I looked at a 2000 Rancher ES 4x4 today. It has about 3,000 miles and nearly 600 hours on it. The tires are 3/4 worn. The owner, a friend of a friend, bent the handlebars and front rack when towing the Rancher in reverse and flipped it over (I guess there was a problem with the ESP and it was stuck in reverse, and he was towing it with another ATV before flipping it over). The starter will click once or twice before starting sometimes. I assume this is a bad connection on the battery, starter, or maybe the starter itself. I rode the machine for 15 minutes in varied conditions and it rode well and there were no mechanical issues.

He is asking $2000 and is firm on that price.

What do you think?

Food for thought. I paid 1600 for an 02 350 2 wheel dr. , manual shift, <100 hours. Only problem is the low hours has caused fuel system probs. Cranks but won't idle well. Runs hard but backfires when I downshift w/o braking.
Good luck.

Take your carb off and clean it good. It probably has some debris in the idle circuit, caused by sitting for a while. They all do that when they've been sitting for a long time. The gas evaporates and leaves deposits behind, stopping up the jets and passages in the carb body.

Thats about right in these parts....although i wouldn't pay that much. $1600 MAX. you'll be putting $300 in tires, plus at LEAST another $200 into cosmetic repairs.

Just for comparison - I bought an '03 Rancher 4x4 with 1700 miles / 150 hours (give or take a little on those numbers) for $1800 couple months ago.

I agree it is too high. The new body style is selling for 2000-2600 depending on how nice they are.It really depends on what they are selling for in your area though.I would not give over 1500 for it and that would be if it didn't need anything but a battery.

Sounds a little high to me, too, but this thread is two years old. LOL.
