i bet today. i try to bet every ky derby. just a thing. the derby race....
i rode enough of them horses. been throwed, been kicked, an had broke bones, etc.
i looked at the ponies, thursday. i picked three. it was out of picture's, i seen, while looking for stats. the pictures, wernt very good, so i picked the ones the had their ears pointing forward, plus the look in their eyes. not much of a system.
before the race, bout an hour or so, i got to see the stats. then i had to figure out, how my online betting account worked. it had been changed since the last derby. so i bet my $1 trifecta, $6, and then i bet another one, after reading the stats.
if it wasn't for the 7, getting disqualified, i would not had won, on my random bet. 8,13,20.. 6 got me, after taxes, $8,700. best $6.oo, i ever spent..
still dont make up for the broken bones an such. but it due make me feel better. :grin

Nice score 'Ted , did you pay 38% taxes on the winnings now or when you file at the end of the year ?

I was pulling for the horse that Smith was riding , didn't have the sound on the TV , still don't know what the inquiry was about

I found the video of the bump on you tube , was that Smith's horse that was getting blocked out , I know he was wearing pink , but there were three pink colored jockeys in the race

Wow, watching the replay you can see that War of Will's left front leg went between the rear legs of Maximum Security when this horse shifted out of his lane in the turn. As someone sad, it's amazing that War of Will was able to keep his balance and it was a testament to the horse and jockey. It could have been a horrible event. A horse stumbling and falling is something I cannot watch. It breaks my heart.
Was the disqualification justified? I leave that to the experts. @LedFTed I'd love to hear your opinion.

i just had missed betting smith on the race before. i was going to bet place an show.
i think that, influenced me to stay, with the trifecta i was going to bet, on account of some pictures i seen. 2nd, 3rd, for smith payed off. not to me but paid good.
the inquiry was, that the 7 horse came out of his lane, an moved other horses over.

its the 1st time i ever seen, a horse running , with its front legs, between the back legs, of the horse in front of him. it puts a whole new meaning on tail gait-ing.
i seen the rider jerk the reins, to keep from hitting. seeing that; plus the other, horses move to the outside.. it make a mess of your, pace, momentum, and the ground ya got to make up for.
i think it was justified..

just in case i didnt say it, they took out the tax's, automatically. online betting..
i never cashed a ticket, where, i had to worry bout tax's before.
how long is your friends ticket good? it's history for sure. i dont see it bringing, money at auction, later on, concerning the younger one's of today, who wont have any interest??
sports interest in general, is declining.

I don't know how long the ticket is good for , he said he ain't going to cash it in , it is worth more to him knowing he was there and had a winning ticket on on the horse that won by default --- he also told me he booked next year's hotel room in advance , paid $300 this year cause he waited to the last minute , says he got the same room for $75 by booking it now for next year

when I hit a jackpot at the casino , I tell them to take all the taxes out right there , Fed and State is like 38% , if not then you have to deal with it on taxes at the end of the year , guess it is the same at the track , you get a win/lost statement at the end of the year and you can get some of that tax money back

i aint hit the casino, as yet. take $40.oo in. them electric slots are rigged, i think.
same as horse racing, Yuk Yuk...
anyway, when one of those electric slots starts, paying, hit it hard, till it quits, then move on..
it will be a while before it pay's off again.
darn, if they dont charge, over to indiana, $7,oo a beer or more. it's like they dont want ya, to bet.
ya might think, they would like ya to be snookered. while ya bet. i would, when i bet.
except, that one time, when i near walked into the girl's restroom, missed it by one door..
least i didnt get yelled at, before i turned around,, was 30 yrs. ago,, .. :grin
i was in the wrong lane... :icon_ nono2:

I have hit many jackpots at the casino on slots , the biggest one hits were $5,000 , the most I ever won in a night was $12,000 and that was without hitting a hand pay / taxable single hit , I remember that night well it was on our second Honeymoon we were at Hollywood Casino and I really think they can control them machines , cause a host walked up to us and talked with us for a while , told him it was our Honeymoon , he gave us a buffet ticket and a ticket to see Herman's Hermits concert the next day , offered us a room but we already had a room and 10 minutes later the machine went haywire for 2 hours straight , $800 , $600 , $500 , $200 over and over --- I remember another time at Boomtown they actually turned the machine off and put it out of service while I was playing it and I was mad , back when the machine dropped coins , I was filling buckets with coins and stacking them on the floor by our feet , I had 32 cups of $1 coins , they came with a cart to get them to the cashier , top and bottom full , I knew a secret , I didn't cash all the coins at the same window , I seen a guy one time cash over $10,000 of $5 coins at a window and had to file paper work on the hit , I remember how mad he was ----one Halloween night a girl friend of mine hit on a $.25 progressive slot and won a Mustang GT at the Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner , La , I stuck a $20 in that same machine 15 minutes before she started playing it , Lamourque Ford sent a limo to her condo and picked her up , she got to pick from 3 colors and went with white with a black convertible top , was fine car , she got it for nothing ( that is not true , she had to pay sales taxes , dealer prep , title and license ) and she treated it like it was free and she trashed that car , never washed or waxed it and parked it under a tree --------- was with a friend of mine , walked by the high roller area and he throw a $100 bill in a $10 progressive slot at Harrahs New Orleans , he didn't sit down and even said " this is going to be quick , if I get one good hit I am going to quit " , he was spinning two $10 2 coins at a time , he hit a double with single bars and won $400 , he says I am going to play it to even money , sun it two more times and he hits the progressive jackpot 3 Triple Diamonds and won $84,000 + some change , that was the biggest hit I was ever around when it happened , he gave me $500 and like a fool , easy come easy go it went ----guess I won't talk about the bad trips cause I would have to start a thread LOL

^^^^ hope your above even on your bet's, fish.
when it come's to horses, as long as you keep picking, eventually, you'll get a winner..

or was that a nose.. :smile

the 7, nor the 20, horse is running in the preakness. maybe, if they run in the belmont, we'll see who's who..

I spent a lot of time at the Fair Grounds New Orleans , we lived 4 blocks away , my ex's uncles were trainers that traveled track to track , her brother and other uncle had race horses , that uncle had a exact copy of the fair ground track on his property in Folsom Louisiana , where all the uncle /brothers trained when in town , he died years back , I wonder who got that property as he never had any kids that I knew about , it was beautiful

Even on a dry track, instead of muddy. that could have been a major spill.. the horses tight bunched, around the turn. even if in the straight part of the track, it still could have been bad. i can see where it could have been 10 horses going down, plus riders,,.. i have to watch the replay one more time. 1 stride, is not enough, to correct a problem.. i know this.. i lived this.
i were riding a filly. she stumbled. i pulled back on the reins, to hold her head up, and tapped her hard with the whip, on the rear. took 4 strides to get her back up, and a bit more to get her up to speed again,.. the farm in ocala. hobeau. onion and prove out, were there. both beat Secretariat, once..

belmont

Belmont; this afternoon. derby paid 11,000.oo^, Preakness 4,000^. what will the Belmont pay? hope it's a 20 horse field. i might bet a 6.oo trifecta. probably not. i aint seen the horses, yet. not been paying attention.
i didnt bet the Preakness, didn't have a feel for it. betting horses, pays off better, than the Lottery.
way to many contenders.
when ya win Lottery, you win big. an more power to you if ya win. i think it's called a sucker bet, though.
come to think of it,
i got to check my last Power Ball ticket :devil
