agreed^^^^ also take this into concideration your not getting the majority of the water from a stock airbox lid, they seal pretty good. You are getting water in the box from the frame tubes if you notice the two holes in the front of the box (toward bars) those two holes run all the way to the front onf the frame at the steering stem that's how how get airflow to the box, when your in deep dirty water or splash in alot of water it enters there and travels through the frame to the airbox.

The K&N lid will not keep water out. It will keep mud out and if you want to run open lid on the air box... it's the safest way to do it.

He rides a 400ex He only has one inlet tube. it goes up under gastank. That is where the water is most likely coming in.
