Are you shutting the gas off or not.It could be really slowly flooding.

I have a 300EX and it starts easy, but I have to put the choke on about half way and let it warm up for about 10 minutes. If I don't, it don't want to take the gas right. After it warms up, it runs like a new one. Just about everyone of the 300EX that I've seen has to warm up along time when it's cold out.

oh i always put the choke on, we keep the garage at 50 but even in the summer i use the choke ill start it ..run about a min then go the 2 blocks up the street to the tracks then turn the choke off and im good for the day, but anyway ill clean the carb and see if that makes a difference on starting after sitting for a while

it shouldn't have to run two blocks with the choke on..to run right..most bikes take just a few min's to warm up after starting with the choke on..i'm not all that great on these newer bikes..but..i do know the older models run really good after just a few min's of starting with the choke..diff try cleaning the carb up..after you tear it all down..with some compressed air..blow every hole..nook..cranny out with the air..also..if this bike has the old choke piston style..it has a o-ring type on it..it may need to be replaced..after they ware out..the carb will suck air through the choke area..another thing you might want to check..is your carb intake boot..look to see if there is any cracks in it..not saying this is your case..but..it never hurts to look :)

I don't ever use the choke on my 450 just hit the gas 3 to 5 times and fire it up little harder when cold outside but since changing to full synthedic oil it cranks real good in the cold weather.

i only ride like that cause im on the street id rather wait till im on dirt till i stop to take the choke off but when i pull the carb if anything looks a little like it needs replacing im going to do it , i figure if its already off replace now instead of later, carb parts are cheap so why not
