I just got 4 ITP mud lite tires with 4 ss212 wheels. While unpacking I see this cut to the tire. The dealer is saying it’s nothing to worry about and it’s cosmetic. What do you guys think?

Looks like someone slipped with a box cutter. That being said i have seen tires get tore up way worse just by riding through rocky terrain. What is your plan with the tires? Just mud? If thats the case i wouldnt be to worried. Saying its not all the way through and leaking obveously. If you plan on sharp rock riding i would send it back for a new one. Because the rocks are gunna slash it worse and could hit that exact spot and cause a flat on the trail. My .02

That would really bum me out , and I would bring it back ( unless it was maail ordered ) then I would want them to ship me another tire and if they wanted the old one back they could come get it -------------- CSI New Orleans would agree with the assessment that was given , a box cutter cutting the shrink wrap from around the tire while they were being unwrapped

Thanks, yea they were mailed from kj motorsports (authorized ITP online dealer) and I unwrapped them, didnt even get to the knife part yet when noticing the cut, only tore the shrink at that point. ITP says looks like it was from a nail on the pallet given the location but also said its fine.
I am going to trail ride with them in WI so no crazy rocks/mountains but I thought why am I paying for a new tire and getting a damaged one i have to worry about.
ITP said they would replace the tire if it ever blew out at that point, but then I’m stranded in the forest and dealing with all that. Dont want to be a jerk but i bought a new set of tires. Just didnt want to over react

I wouldn't say that you wanting what you paid for is an over-reaction.

Tires ain't cheap!

If you don't need them right away, I'd get a new one now.

Don't give them any reasons to give you trouble later if and when that tire does blow.

If they are 6 ply tires, how many ply's did it cut through? 1? 3? 5?

Nobody knows, especially ITP, just by looking at the pictures.

Yep, I'd want a new one. Putting them off gives them an out.

I'd send it back without even putting it on and wait for the replacement one that isn't damaged, they hhave freight insurance
