I asked the local Honda dealership what was the largest tires I could put on my 2019 rancher without doing a lift or gear reduction. They recommended the 28in Motohavok. So I found some online and installed them today. They look and run great but one tire on the rear rubs the fender. I don't know why only one rubs, but I'm trying to find a solution. I did notice that a fender clip is missing on that side so maybe that's contributing to the issue. I'll be replacing that this week to see if it makes a difference. A friend recommended a lift but the dealership said it would cause more issues. I know I can trim the fender but that's a last resort to me. Anyone have any recommendations? Whats y'alls experience with a lift? Would it be better to trim or add the lift? This is my first fourwheeler so this is all completely new to me.

NEVER lift a 420 rancher without fitting a swingarm stretch. Your dealer is correct, it will cause the rear shaft UJ to bind.
Easier solution is trim the fender

stick with light 27's or your not going to be real happy with power loss from a 28 IMO< BUT this is always a personal thing, what I wouldn;t like, MAYBE you would
I ask you this, do you feel your ATV has too much power NOW??
if not, well every inch in larger heavier tore you add will loose power?
so, how much power you willing to loose?
there is NO way around it, go taller, alter gearing LOOSE power
some say they don';t feel it, but its there , you cannot alter physic's! and keep in mind that if you RUN taller than OEM tires, you will void the wrranty on the ATV
NOW some dealers turn a blind eye to it, but adding taller tires alters from OEM design adn thus VOIDS your warranty!
so if you goal is to SAVE warranty by NOT doing a lift or a GR, for the warranty, your logic sadly is not going to work( and don't mean any disrespect her saying this)

unless your dealer doesn't care and turn you in, or HONDA doesn't send a rep in for a repair and see things, pending repair, many times depends on what and when honda sends in reps to over see things and NOT just go by a dealers word!

its the nature of the beast !and honest info here!
