My nephew and his wife live on the east coast of Florida, I asked my sister what they were going to do. Her son told her they had some friends on the west coast and that if they are going to get hit as well they will head north so they are just waiting to see what the projections are but either way they are packing and taking their most expensive and valuable things with them.
Based on what I'm seeing on the Hurricane tracker:shocked: the whole pan handle is going to get slammed and this could make Katrina pale in comparison. Very scary for those people, can't even comprehend it myself. My brother teaches at a small private christian school, when Katrina hit, he and two other teachers took a group of kids from the junior and senior classes down to help out in the aftermath he said he had never seen anything like it. They spent 10 days there gutting houses, taping freezers and refrigerators, etc. God be with all those in Florida and on the east coast.
Kind of makes all of this tearing down monuments and political garbage show everyone(hopefully) the foolishness if their agendas.
A reporter even made comment on that this last Sunday morning on the CBS "Sunday Morning" program. Showing videos of people rescuing people in Houston. A bunch of locals forming human chains to save people from vehicles being washed away, all from different ethnicities working toward the good of that individual they were helping. All thoughts of the what's going on in our country forgotten and focusing on the more important issue, remove one person out of that link and failure occurs. I think God is continuing to give us, as a nation, chance after chance to wake up and get our act together, and to stop the petty insignificant bickering. Because right now your not hearing about to many monuments that need to come down.
Sorry, that soapbox kind off sneaked up on me and I didn't realize I was on top of it until I wrote this.
Will pray that officials will get folks out before it hits, and also for those in Houston dealing with their aftermath. FF

Thoughts and prayers for the folks in Florida, this all just horrible news and just after Texas, hard to believe Irma is going to be more powerful than Katrina .

SHade I agree with you
people seem to make a lot of fuss over things that, been about a long time, and best way to leave the past in the past is , just that leave it alone
the more them yap about it, more aggressive they get to make THERE POINT< all they do is re kindle fires

and yes its sad people don't stick together till a major disaster happens?

I hope all in the soon to be hit area's have a chance to get out or button up best they can, this looks like a nasty storm for sure!

Good points.

Could we imagine how great this country could be if everyone pulled together day in and day out vs. only on occasion?

Is the UK news report correct in saying that there is a second hurricane (Jose) following in Irma's path?! This is horrendous

That's what I'm seeing, this could be a real deadly duo here! Tried getting a hold of my nephew today to tell him to get out of there he doesn't have to prove anything, no answer. I think the last hurricane they had wasn't much of a hurricane and it has lulled some folks into false security. Folks need to get out while they can.

yes , Jose is a Cat 3 now and forecasted to make it to Cat 5 and go over the same island Irma hit 5 days afterwards ----also yesterday was a huge solar flare from the sun which was the biggest one recorded since 2006 , which just so happens to fit the 11 year cycle of the most active solar sun bursts --- seen a program where they were measuring the solar rays and they hard instruments 1 mile below the Earth's surface , amazing they penetrate that deep

If any of you are interested, you can get solar flare alerts in your email box. At SIDC.BE you can sign up for flaremail, cactus and presto alerts giving almost realtime info as it happens on the Sun.

Yesterday flaremail sent out three major alerts: an X2.2, X9.3 and an X10.0!!!! All three were massive CMEs originating from earth-facing Sunspot #2673. Today I got two more alerts: an M7.3 and an X1.3 originating from the same sunspot. On Friday night, Sept 8th we should see dancing Auroras in the northern skies from the first of those supercharged solar winds.

In the short-term future we'll experience upticks in volcanic and/or quaking activities on earth as a direct result of these energies. Electromagnetic interaction directly affects storming behaviors here on earth too. Large hurricanes and cyclones more so, since those vortex structures are first and foremost, bowl-shaped magnetic fields.

Ya, didn't have to wait long for something substantial... Note that large hurricanes can affect geo-activity too... the EM new-mass-producing factory in the earth is very complex and dynamic. Difficult to predict events, but we can generalize about them...

We've been at KP=8 severe storm levels overnight with some mild Aurora activity here in my area last night. Flaring activity incoming is fast & furious right now. Got several strong M-class flares and one more massive X1.3 flare alert so far this morning. A strongly Negative polarity component of this storm is wreaking havoc, upsetting the apple cart so to speak... using violence.

Cactus alerts provide physical details of a CME... Halo shape & size, min & max speeds, mass, direction of ejecta, etc.

Presto alerts provide details about incoming solar winds.... initial shock (ionization of our upper atmosphere) waves, wind speed, density, polarity (negative or positive) and polarity strengths along with measured consequences... Storming levels etc.

Didn't intend to hijack your thread... sorry.

EDIT: This a very bad time to fly right now. Stay home or drive instead... radiation levels may become very high on the sun-facing side of earth during severe solar storming.
