Hello. I am new to this forum and to atv's. I just picked up a 2001 recon. Bike looks great and runs great as well. Cant figure the idle out though. When i first rode it it didnt want to stay running unless i gave it a touch of gas.. So i figured it just was cold and the guy said it hadnt been ran much the last couple years. I shifted it into gear and went up through the gears and played around a bit.. Then when i came back to the house. I put it in neutral and it stayed running but the idle was also very high...so i adjusted it down and it stayed running just fine, sounded perfect. Then the next day same thing, got done riding and idle was high. Adjusted again till it was just puttering. Then today went out tried starting it and couldnt get it started unless i kept my thumb on the gas...choke seemed to slow the idle and when i pushed choke in the idle sped up..seemed backward...so then i adjusted the idle back up to where it would stay running, and after a few min of riding the idle again was racing when in neutral.....
Can anyone give me any info on this...thanks scott

try cleaning the carb..my 2000 trx350 rancher does that sometimes..i haven't a clue as to why it does it..i totaly over hauled the carb..all new jets and so forth..and it won't idle down at all..i finally got it to stay at a even idle..but..i would like to get it to idle down just a tad..but...i can live with it. and welcome to the forums.
