So my dumb self wanted to ride so bad (i just got a new swingarm) that when i realized my hub was loose and i look at my hub nut i notice the cotter pin is gone. So i tighten my bolt and look for my extra cotters. No where to be found. Guess what i thought would work... an allen wrench. I rode for a bit checking on it everynow and then seemed fine. I get home and the allen wrench is all wrapped up in my nut. It made its own space under two of the teeth. She is stuck good. Im thinking the only way out is to drill off the two teeth its under. So i came here looking for better options first. As said, i know im dumb im not looking for criticism. Thanks for anyone that can help. (Ordering more pins and most likely more axle nuts for after i have to destroy the one i have now)

Well , a magic lamp with three wishes would be handy about now , or maybe a leprechaun ------I think a thin blade cutting wheel on a side grinder and cut the two ears off the castle nut and maybe hope you will be able to punch it out , allen wrenches are hardened steel , so drilling it out isn't going to work if it is jammed up in the hole

I too think you should be able to turn the nut and get it out, if not, a dermel with a small disc should be able to get in there and cut it off without any damage to things
and also an Allen wrench is hardened metal,. so a chisel might work too as they can snap pretty easy being hardened, surprised it bent like that without breaking to be honest!

Is the hub stripped?thats the only thing I can think of that would’ve did that to an Allen wrench. A cotter pin is a lot softer than an Allen key.

Wlecome to the forums xxx', good observation , if the hub isn't totally stripped and slipping , then it must at least be wallowed out at the splines and moving around to do that

Carbide bur in a foredom or Dremel would make short work if that Allen key.

If you're gonna farmer it...use a nail FFS!
When the pin's in the 51, 10hp Johnson, broke, an i didn't have a spare, i kept 16 penny nails, cut to the size in my repair box. sometimes they would get sheared too. i did learn not to take the boat out after a resent flood[heavy rains]. only took 1 trip, 3 sheared pins. least i got back to the dock.. who knew so much wood was in the water. it were cold too that night, least i kept my prop,.:smile
