I haven't seen any posts anywhere about removing stuck hubs with a Hydraulic Gear Puller. Harbor Freight have 5 and 10 ton pullers. Anyone ever use them?
New to me and first quad. 1988 fourtrax 300 4wd. Motor run nicely but otherwise needs lots of help.

Choke was frozen - got unstuck
Had lots of play in steering wheel/front wheels - replaced 4 tie rod ends
No gear oil drained out from front dif - added oil
Water poured out of rear diff, straight water no oil. - Added oil

Makes a jingling sound in higher gears sounds like coming from front end.
Some play front left axle at brake plate. Holding tire at 3 & 9 o'clock.
Two rear wheel lugs are stripped and can't remove the wheel and wheel is on deep dish inside.
Excessive play rear axle

No brakes - 2 of 4 front brake cly's stuck all other parts free but worn shoes -I want to rebuild cyl's and replace shoes.
Rear missing lever that cables hook up to. Haven't gotten to take rears apart yet but I think won't be good news.

Thanks for having me. I love honda's

That looks great. The harbor freight hydraulic puller was way too big. I bought the larger of the two now will return it. I pulled rear axle with the hub and brakes still on. the hub will need to be pressed off it's not budging. i've had it standing on end with acetone and trans fluid mix on top of splines and nothing is seeping down. I'm thinking about getting the HF 12 ton press to get it all apart. Have bearing kits for axle, swing arm and diff coming. Left swing arm pivot bolt was a mother to get out, really difficult. Right had no bearing just the race on the bolt but the bolt came right out.

When you go back with the swing arm , take care to not over tighten the left side before jamming the lock nut , the torque is 4 ft lbs , then like 75 or 84 on the jam nut ------- I made my own 17mm allen socket , 17mm allen cut a chuck off and put it into a impact socket , the jam nut tool I bought , easiest way to get the bearing races out the swing arm is a accy torch and slice them in half -----are you going to rebearing and seal the diff ?
