Morning all! New member from East Texas. Long time rider, first time Honda owner...also my first BRAND NEW bike!
Just picked up a 2018 Rubicon DCT from my local dealer last week. I am new to DCT coming from old foot shift bikes of Yamaha and Suzuki, but no one but Honda seems to make a shiftable transmission anymore. I prefer foot shift myself, but the DCT had a good price, and was already on the floor as it was last year’s model. Plus, the wide range of gearing with the additional high/low range selector seemed like it was a good idea.
I also like the fact that Honda is using the same tried and true technology that everyone used to use, they just keep making it better. I was riding with a buddy of mine an had my bike out on the trail getting it broke in over the weekend. Before I arrived at the trailhead, my buddy had already used his Rancher 420 to pull out a CanAm that smoked a belt trying to get out of a mud hole and towed him back to base. No thanks. Having crazy power with a 800cc may be fun, I’ll go with reliability over crazy power any day. Although, I do wish Honda made the Rincon with a bit better transmission, but that’s another story for another day and also just my personal opinion which doesn’t matter.
. I’m sure the Rubicon will be plenty good for what I need to use a bike for both for utility and fun.
Looking forward to seeing what I can learn on the forums.
