I have heard of folks spraying on vinegar and letting it soak, but you have to keep it wet, so spray every so often for a day or so
then just hose off
BUT vinegar is powerful stuff, can remove more than you want so be careful LOL
as with over cleaner too!
me I am too old to care about being pretty on a atv motor, I just wash with soap and water, stains don't matter to me anymore, as long as it works correctly, I'm happy!

I've been fortunate enough to grow up around carwash's and pressure washers for years and I've always had good luck cleaning stuff when it's stone cold, vinegar is acidic and will work well, most soaps need to sit and work, and alot of surfaces need to be brushed to get clean, as far as a brand name I've always been able to access Hotsy industrial detergents, but stuff like spray 9 will do just as good a job, you might just have to do it a few times...
Wash with cold or luke warm water so the soap doesn't dry before you rinse, and rinse with really warm or hot water...

Thanks for the reply’s, I went and bought a bottle of that Easy Off Oven Cleaner. I am extremely impressed on how it works. The only trouble I have are getting too the places I can’t reach with a tooth brush, like on the cylinder head. If anyone has any tips too reach into those fins I would appreciate it.

other than spraying it on thick in the fins , and letting it run off ?, not much you can do in those spots. a narrow brush is your best bet. I just spray it down heavy with a can of easy off over cleaner, let it sit for a bit, scrub where I can, rinse off with the water hose.

if your very crazy LO< you can try using some scotch bright scuffing pads (larger one, or fold them over a say a paint scraper or something else that fits between the fins
add in your fav cleaner agent(oven cleaner or??(wear rubber gloves if its strong like)
and you can get in some pretty tight places
a dremel with a small wire wheel can also get in there to, or other types of tips on them??

all comes down to HOW creative and pretty/detailed you want to make it!

before and after

don't really make a habit of doing before and after pics but I did have those from awhile back.
maybe you got stronger stuff up yunder ?, I tried it on some engine cases, and it would not touch the stuff I wanted off of them.

Maybe? This stuff is pretty nasty. There is always going to be some stuff that won't come off, or at least requires more scrubbing than I have the patience for. If the engine is being disassembled anyway I usually sand blast some of the parts. Have to be a bit careful about doing that though. The best way would be something like vapour blasting but that would only be worth it on a restoration project.

yeah, I thought about using my blasting cabinet on the head ?, then second thought about it..lol. not worth the mess up..lol. you damn sure don't want to blast cases if the bearings are still in them ?, and I sure as heck did not want to start pulling bearings out of them !..lol.
