F = 4x4, A = auto trans, 6 = IRS + EPS

I think the parts listings use AC and 2AC codes following the model number to denote option packages installed by the factory to meet various regional & state regulations. So an AC code denotes a model having standard equipment, while a 2AC code identifies a model having additional equipment such as a horn, license plate holder, additional lighting etc. If my guess is wrong I hope someone corrects me.

The colors are distinguished by Type 1, Type 2, Type 3 etc., except where color are listed for each part. AC and 2AC are global model IDs having nothing to do with individual parts colors.

Ok. So when I looked at front fenders on a trx420, different colors were listed for AC and 2AC. So if I’m wrong, what exactly does AC and 2AC mean? How do you know which one to select when looking up parts?

Every model is offered in several different colors. As Partzilla states on their website, you must call them before ordering plastics to make sure you are buying the correct color. There is no other way according to them.

Fair enough, but I’d still like to understand what differentiates AC from 2AC. You have to select one or the other when selecting your model on partzilla, at least you do for a 2017 trx420FM.

What is the 8th digit of your VIN?
If H, then AC

I would tell you , since the vin numbers 10th digits is the code / year of the atv , and yours is a 2002 , which the digit for a 2002 is 2 , then TRX300EX2 is a 2002 TRX300EX --- check out --- www.atv.honda.com --- with that question

As a parts dealer at my shop for Partzilla.com I have had to ask this question myself. The best answer (not even sure if they know theirselves) but the A, AN, AC, AM are emissions codes. Ac=America California, AM-America Massachusetts, but can’t remember AN. I don’t generally see this when I order from Rockymountainatv.com and usually go with the “A” version here in East Tennessee. I would compare part numbers if unsure on both and check another sites I do too.
