Good video, I’m sure that will come in useful for members in the future. The callipers mounting plate is steel coated with zinc & yellow passivate to prevent rust. The shape of the hole to mount the plate to the hub is called ‘countersink or countersunk, depending how you’re using the word. Not picking fault, just sharing the knowledge :)

I never noticed that either but after having a look I also mounted mine at the rear.

I was looking at one of mine just a while ago , with the stick guards I don't think it would even fit to have the caliper in the front -----and I think it will be a cinch for me to hit the hoses and make them loosen up or damage them by ripping them off

Yah.... I am not sure what direction they mount.

It's not like the instructions say..........
(Cough cough...)

I thought the hoses would be in harm's way myself, but I checked clearance on hard turns (far as I can go) and the hose clears the rims.

Not sure about my oxlite brush guards hitting caliper, didn't think about that (not mounted yet as I need to derust and repaint them) Guess if it is an issue I will remake tutorial guess. .

Idk, but on cars the slots suppose to lean towards the rear. Video shows your right side okay but not the left. Probably don't make much difference on a atv but idk. If if was me I'd flip it so they match.

Thanks for info.

Would have been nice if the directions specified direction.

Rotors (discs as we call them) go whichever way will remove gases (caused by heat) the fastest. On my disc kit the vent holes in the ‘rotors’ were diagonal. After some research the correct way was as you see in the picture, I’m no artist but I’m sure the picture gives you the right idea LOL

Oh i gotcha, didnt you install a disc kit of the 300 ?

I don't think it matters on single layer drilled, or slotted disc, but.... On vane vented disc, your right Sam. My real concern would be the grime and dirt. (Sandpaper action on a mud bike)

Yes, the kit for the 300 is no longer made so you use the foreman kit on a 300 which I did.

Good news.

My oxlite brush guards do not conflict with the calipers if they are mounted in the front of the wheel (rather than back as others have done). I can do hard left/right and they do not touch.

I've wondered about this.

Factory 420, 500, and 680 discs have the caliper up front.

The aftermarket seem to put the caliper in the rear.

In the rear it seems as if it would keep the brake line etc more protected, but wouldn't it also allow mud to be pushed into the caliper between the pad and the rotor, possibly gumming everything up?

I have a kit in the shop, but haven't installed it yet.

Not sure again if it matters since these are not vented. And not sure on your photo, it shows front, but is that the left or right disc? Also I know that major auto manufacturers also disagree with the rotation. It seams 90% agree, but Brembo is the other 10%. Either way for personal preferance I'd make them at least match, and most likely lean towards the rear.
