Wow is about all I can say.... so I go to change the final drive oil in the 86 trx250 and not 1 single drop comes out of the drain hole... so I take off the filler cap and on the inside of it is big chunks of just gunk. I didn't think to get pics of it before I clean it but the ones I'm attaching are of inside the case (I brushed a little gunk out before pics). My question is, is there a way to flush or clean the inside without removing it from the axle? If so, would someone be so kind as to explain how? I can definitely attest to the fact that Honda knows how to build motors and parts that can take a hell of a beating even with clearly little to no upkeep & years and years of neglect, yet still keep running. When I can get one that will actually be for me (no I don't have my own to keep, never have had ) I'm defending getting a honda!
P.s. I'm about to have all these girls (yes they're girls! Hehe) up & running real good, ready to sell!

Sounds to me your too late for a flushing , unless your a guy that is a flipper and just want to get it off your hands ------ I would take it apart and clean it out then change the seals for sure and most likely the bearings as if nothing came out then they can't look too good

I use red diesel or kerosene, fill it up, soon the wheels a few times or ride round your yard/driveway and drain, repeat as necessary. You MIGHT get lucky and it may be fine but I’m leaning towards the bearings and seals being worn and in need of replacement.

you have not seen anything yet !..lol. wait until you run across one or two that are packed with axle grease !..lmfao. to answer your question ?, only true fire way to clean them out after they reach your stage ?, is to remove it from the atv, split the differential case, and wash them out that way. while your at it, this would be a good time to replace the bearings and seals. mind you : you will need a spec tool or a piece of 1 1x2 x 1 1/2 square tubbing to remove the pinion lock nut in order to remove the pinion gear. once the pinon gear is out, now your faced with removing the pinion needle bearing , AND THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT COMES OUT EASY !..LOL. i've done lots of them, and each and everyone will either be easy, OR LIKE AN EX WIFE !..LMFAO.

I usually jack rear end up, fill with as much diesel or atf as I can. Then jack while bike up and run thru the gears to get gears spinning and throw a lot of fluid around inside case. If it’s jacked up there really is no pressure on the gears so running it faster won’t hurt it. But the best bet is to pull it apart because I bet that pinion needle bearing is gone/going out.
