How often do you guys change your oil? I don't race or beat my 400 but I do ride it. Generally just on the weekends for maybe 4 to 6 hours at most. Any opinions?

The maintenance schedule says every 600 miles or 100 hours.

I guess no one really answered you. LOL On the 400EX riding like you do, I would change it once at the beginning of the season and then maybe once more half way through.

Thanks Red, I wasn't trying to be smart, 100 hours works for me, I can estimate that, but changing it every season works for me too. Thanks again.

600 miles or 100 hours. With you driving 4-6 hours every week-end you accumulate 100 hours in about 5 months. Race people change more often. If you store the ATV for extended time I would put new oil in it before storage.(Of course run the engine to operating temperature with the new oil before storage.) Use high quality oil like Honda GN-4 10W40 or Golden Spectro 4 10W40. Use only Honda OEM oil filter and change when changing oil.

I didn't think you were being a smart ass...
I don't want to arrive at the Pearly Gates in a well preserved body... I want to slide in sideways screaming "NOW THAT WAS A F'ING RIDE"

http://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums/images/smilies2/r_c.gif Just for your info, the body will be put to rest in a grave, however the part of you that lives forever will not be admitted through the Pearly Gates with that kind of language. Only by accepting Jesus Christ as your savior will you enter heaven.http://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums/images/smilies2/happy.png

Give it a rest, I'm not going to argue religion with you. My god is BLACK and SHE is better than yours... Something to ponder

Since no one here is paying attention to the sea foam thread, is it okay before i change my oil in 400ex's, to run a little sea foam in them? A little as in 2-3 oz.'s. I would only run it around the yard a couple times. I do it in my lawn mowers all the time, and in my chainsaws, but I dont know about the 400ex because it has an external oil tank.
