I have a 1999 Honda TRX 300 and am having trouble with starting it as when I try and start the bike the starter spins and makes a horrible noise and the engine only turns over sometimes any ideas on what this might be could it be the starter clutch not engaging

sounds like the one way bearing in back of the flywheel is bad

Is it a roaring noise (one-way bearing?) or metal crunching noise (starter reduction gears?)?
