hi my honda trx 300 dose not charge without a battery it wont run so when the battery goes dead it cuts out im thinking of changing the wireing loom. ive been toldit could be the regulator i think it is but is there anyother stuff that mite stop it charging.the wireingloom thats on it was mucked up by the last person who had the quad who didnt have a clue what they wer doing any ideas????

It could be the regulator/rectifier or the stator. I would get a wiring diagram and go over the wiring good to make sure nothing is wrong with the wiring, first.

how does the regulator go because both my mates hav bigreds and 1 of thems charges and the other doesn one of them tried 2 regulators one was even a brand new genuine honda one and it never worked and he put a 1 of a 89 bigred on it last night and it just started charging after him trying brand new ones i dont understand???

I don't know if I understand your question, but if you're asking how it's supposed to be wired, it should have 5 wires, three yellow wires, a green wire and a red wire. Three yellow wires run straight from the stator to the regulator. The green wire is just a ground and ties into the green ground wire running to the lights and to the ground on the ignition coil. The red wire is spliced into the main hot wire running from the post on the starter solenoid to the keyswitch.
