Hi I have a 2015 Honda Rubicon 500 and am having trouble with it starting hard. It will crank for a long time before it starts, but if you start it with the pull cord it will usually fire right up. In cold weather it starts very poorly, sometimes not at all. The battery voltage is at 12.8 volts before starting, but when I start cranking it will drop to approx. 9 volts. I have replaced the battery in the last year. Any suggestions??

Start with the basics... replace the spark plug with an NGK properly gapped. Check the spark plug boot and coil wire condition. Check the sensor in the airbox if your model has one. Clean the air filter, fuel filter/fuel pump, clean the throttle body & throttle butterfly. Check the TP/MAP sensor etc. Welcome to the forums!

does the pull cord turn the engine over faster than the starter? do you use ethanol gas?

I don't think there stater cord turns it faster. I have wondered if when I crank it with the starter it doesn't have enough electrical power to run the ignition system of fuel injection. As far as the fuel i have no idea if it's ethanol fuel. Should it not be ethanol does it cause problems?
