Hey guys new member I have a honda recon and I think it's carb tuning issues but if it sits for a long time the 4 wheeler will idle up real high until I put it into a gear

You are probably correct about the carb. Clean the carb and replace parts as necessary. I would adjust the valves because tight valves can give you funny carb like problems. I would also suggest cleaning the fuel tank and blowing it dry. Same with the petcock. This approach will eliminate any guess work in the process, plus it probably needs all these things addressed anyway. Get back with us when it is back together for pointers on the fuel screw adjustment.

You will only need a larger main jet if an aftermarket pipe has been installed. Jetting is not your problem if the stock jets are installed. I think it needs to be cleaned again. Then adjust the fuel screw when hot. Your problem with the high idle is in the slow/pilot jet or the air bleed for the same circuit or the fuel screw is out of adjustment. Float level must be correct too. We are assuming there are no air leaks......have you checked?
