Honda Recon 250 brake collar problem HELP!!
Hey Ya'll,
I need help PLEASE! I have taken the two nuts off the rear axle, the 5 nuts off the brake drum face, but cant get the brake drum apart. The manual says I need to take the colar off before the drum will slid off the axle, but doesnt tell me how to get the collar off. Its either stuck or has something holding it on.
Please help! I have the bike torn down and need to get these rear shoes on, but cant get to them!!!!
Anyone tell me how to get the collar off please?????

Thank you for the responses. I still cant get the face plate off, or the drum off the axle.
It sticks and wont come off. Any ideas? Does it have to be lined up on the shaft in a certain way?
Missing my bike bad, now I cant ride it at all because of no brakes.
I was able to get the snap ring off, but now see I didnt need to to that. the who assembly wont slide off.
It will spin, and clearly there is no brakes in there as all kinds of crap fell out between the drum and face plate when I spin it

Thanks, I will try that. Thats what I think origionally was the problem I was having when I was riding. I would press the brake and the lever would not go back which would lock up the brake. I was afraid i would damage it.
I applied penetrating oil to it and worked the lever back and forth, but it would not work smoothly. hope that works. Thanks for the suggestion!
