I own a 2012 Honda Rancher and the other day I went riding through thick mud and it started to overheat, i was expecting the fan to turn on but it never did, while i was riding i turned around and next thing i know my coolant was boiling and was shooting smoke out of the vent like a fog machine. I turned off my four wheeler and the dang thing wouldn't crank up so i got towed out of the woods, and by the time i got out, i looked at my coolant and literally had little to nothing. I believe this is because of my fan not turning on, what would i need to check on it, and how could i fix this?

Yeah because i had to get back to the truck. But i think i fixed my problem, my radiator fan had mud in it and wasnt spinning so i got it free, i dont know if my fan works but ill figure that out next time i go riding i guess lol.

Word of advice. Don't ride with the temp light on. Stop and let it cool off a bit and then ride till the temp light comes on again.

Riding it while it's overheating will ruin your engine. Hopefully it hasn't already done so.

X2 to what jeep says. And if your fan got packed full of mud, then the radiator itself likely did too. Pressure wash it so it is clear. A packed radiator cools as much as a black sweatshirt on a sunny day.
