Hey guys,
I have a 2009 Honda Rancher.
It was a repo, in getting it home I lost the dern keys.
So I beat up the keyhole and got it running just fine. I did have to put a new spark plug in it.
We after riding it a bit, no key became a pain.
So I went online and ordered me a key and ignition switch.
No biggie, it just plugs right in.

Well it sat on the trailer for a week or so and then me and a buddy put the new ignition on. We could never get it in neutral.
I was like "Dang battery must be dead" so I went and bought a new battery. I put the new battery in and the fan came on and started blowing. I thought cool this baby is gonna work.
STILL wont go into neutral, no lights come on, NOTHING.
After looking around a bit, it is blowing the 30amp fuse.

I put another fuse in, connect the battery, BAM blows the fuse????

Whats going on guys ??

I am a newbie at this, I have ordered a manual.

Thanks

repo eh, and you lost the keys.

I've had bait coolers that smell better than this story.

But, you've ordered the manual, good. Sounds like the key hole is trashed. Next time, keep the ice pick and screw driver away.

Hey Alfred

Sounds like you have experience ?? Busted a few locks in your days??
Would u like to see the title WISE GUY ???
Come on, I have 3 ATVs and 2 Rangers I run around on 700 acres of land, yeah I need a hot 4 wheel. Just trying to save a easy $100 from taking it to the dealer.

Your just jealous because I have friends at the bank.

You other guys, thanks for your help I will check on a crimped wire.

Ok ok Calm down.... first and formost welcome to the forums. Second i agree with saber you got a short just simply go throught the harness and you will more than likely find the culprit.

Last but not least if you were to look back and any post Pain has been a part of you will see that being a smarta** is his disposition but he's a really cool guy with a dislocated arm. But don't take his jokes as serious.

Forgive me if I am suspicous of someone who just spends a bunch of money on a quad and the first thing they do after loosing the keys is take a fire poker to the key lock. It might not smell fishy to you, but it does to me. It wouldn't be the first time someone tried to misrepresent the facts on an internet website and it won't be the last, but I appologize since you've obviously taken offense.

And I was serious about the manual. It will help having a schematic.

Well unfortunatly I have been stolen from in the past... About 10 of my prized guns were stolen. So when mentioning stolen items it just hits a nerve.

And I said I ...I meant my 16 yr old son... Didnt really wanna put the blame on him. I should have been there to help the transport. Hoping he could handle it.

I will look at the schmatic for sure thanks guys.
