I'm having trouble with my 2012 Honda rancher not wanting to start. I was driving it and all of a sudden it just died and wouldn't start back up. I pulled the spark plug which I cleaned and then checked the spark which it had. It still wont start just crank. My next guess would be fuel but I don't know where to start. Wondering if I could get some ideas on what it could be. I also checked the fuses and they were all good.

Rancher420: Did you check to make sure that the red kill switch on the left handlebar didn't get turned off. It must be in the center, ON position.

Yes I did check that and even switched it on and off a few times just to make sure. Ill have to get a different spark plug and see if that helps before I try much else.

Check battery cables. Are all tight? My 420 had crazy problems when my ground became loose on my battery.

so I checked the battery cables and they were tight. Then I got a new spark plug and still nothing it just cranks but won't fire or start.

did you check to make sure the fuel is on ?. got plenty of fuel ???. is fuel getting to the throttle body ???.

Does it do anything noticably different when it won't start, like no EFI light coming on when you turn the key on?

Remove the air filter and spray carb cleaner or starting fluid in. If it starts then you have a fuel problem.

please don't post in this thread, when you started another on same topic, I answered you in your thread. it sounds like your fuel injector relay is not working right ?.

Rancher420: You can confirm that it is getting fuel to the cylinder by:
Turn the engine over a few times. Then, pull the plug and see if it is wet (with gas). If it is wet, then you are getting gas. If it is dry, then you are not getting fuel. Also, try replacing the spark plug. I have had spark plugs suddenly fail and I won't go anywhere without an extra plug. Note that Honda gives you a spark plug wrench. However, that wrench/socket doesn't do any good without an extra plug

I think you just solved my problem. My nephew drove it, then the next day it wouldn't start. We usually just turn the key off but I bet he did the key and the switch. 🤯

Hey have same issue have replace ,fuel pump, air fule ratio sensor and new injector ,and new battery,, but will run when choked with your hand also new spark plug and fresh gas all switches are in right position helppp

i will see what i can come up with but dont buy parts unless you know thats the problem.
