I'm and new here and am having some problems with my 2006 Rancher 400 at. Last summer my control motor shorted and blew the 30 amp fuse. I replaced the motor with a new one. It ran fine for about 1 year and motor shorted out again and blew fuse. I replaced it in June with a new motor. This past weekend while driving my atv for about 20 min driving slow at my hunting club (about 13 mph for half mile or so). I stop with shifter in gear while running it AT. When I powered up the fuse blew again. Dashed lines blinking vice "D", checked fuse. I've seen this before. So that is 3 motors in little over a year. No water in motor or connection. Getting 12 blinking in dashes. Any help would be greatly apreciated. I have a maintenance manual for this machine.

Thanks for the input. I have the service manual at home. The problem is after I change the control motor everything work fine for a while. Then the motor shorts out and when it happened this weekend it was super hot, unable to touch with bare hand. And it only lasted since june. I don't beat on it, I just ride it to my tree stand location, slow and quiet. I get no more codes when I replace motor. Any thoughts.

I finally figured out what the problem is. My PCM housing is cracked under the rubber mounting cover. It finally smoked after I changed the shift motor for the 3 time. I ordered a new PCM (CDI) and will install it this weekend. I'll let you know how it works out.
