I was wondering about Honda part number interchangeability and definition. For example:

45314-VM0-003 is a wheel cylinder piston for a (87) TRX250A

45314-HC5-006 is a wheel cylinder piston for a (88) TRX300FW

If you notice, the prefixes are the same with different center and ending numbers. I read somewhere that the center three letters designated the vehicle type that the part belonged to and the last three were the designation for the manufacturer of the actual part.

Now come the questions:
1) Are these the same part used on two different vehicles?
2) Are the center and ending numbers correct as I have described?
3) If not what do the center and ending numbers designate?

Thanks, Randman

I believe that's where I read the description from. I have a pair of 85 FL350's and parts are beginning to get hard to find or really expensive. Most everything Honda used as parts for the FL350 were from the TRX250r. Just trying to find another alternative for something cheaper!

Thanks!

how do u find out what size motor is on a bike i got a 87 trx 250x but the motor is to big to be a 250
the engine size..in cc's...will be stamped on the lower part of the cylinder near where it meets the lower engine case half. something like 247-249 cc's ?..any of these readings will be a 250 cc motor. anything above 250 ?..will be a larger motor.
