I was wondering about Honda part number interchangeability and definition. For example:
45314-VM0-003 is a wheel cylinder piston for a (87) TRX250A
45314-HC5-006 is a wheel cylinder piston for a (88) TRX300FW
If you notice, the prefixes are the same with different center and ending numbers. I read somewhere that the center three letters designated the vehicle type that the part belonged to and the last three were the designation for the manufacturer of the actual part.
Now come the questions:
1) Are these the same part used on two different vehicles?
2) Are the center and ending numbers correct as I have described?
3) If not what do the center and ending numbers designate?
Thanks, Randman
