If you are asking about the stock 300FW oil temp alarm they are discontinued new. But you can buy used alarms at PSN:

powersportsnation - Search Results for "+honda +300 +alarm"

Type in coupon code: SAVEPARTS20 before midnight tonight to get 20% off the purchase price with free shipping.

If you are asking about the optional 300FW cooling fan kit alarm, those are no longer available new. Try the fLeebay... be patient if you don't find any, they tend to be rare items.

my apologies for sounding confusing i will try to be more clear, yes the alarm box you mentioned does that control the fan, also the red over heat light never comes on now, it use to come on momentarily on startup.

Are you after an OEM finish on your 300 or just a fan that works? It would be easier and cheaper to wire a fan to a switch and turn on as and when you feel it is needed.
If you ride in water or deep mud it is better to be wired through a switch anyway IMO.

Edit: You could extend your search to ebayUK, all 300 models came with cooling fans so you stand more chance of getting a good used item.

You can test your existing unit by unplugging the oil temp sensor and grounding the light blue wire to the motor. If you have an oil sensor with two wires rather than one, unplug and touch them together. When you do this with the key on, the oil temp light should light up and the fan motor should run. If the fan motor runs but the light doesn't light up, check the connector plug and/or replace the light bulb.

The oil temp sensor should measure between 9.5k ohms and 10.5k ohms at room temp using an ohms meter. Replace if it is out of range.

hi sam yes i checked the fan with a battery and it works, whats the process of wiring up a switch to turn the fan on and off.
You just need an ignition live to pick up from for the fan and mount a switch in a sutable place near the bars somewhere.

So you have a 96 with the optional fan kit and the fan doesn’t work and your hot light won’t come on? Yes that happened to me.

First the alarm unit and the fan control are two separate units; unfortunately neither is available new. The fan control relay is bigger than the alarm unit. If you don’t have a fan then you don’t have an FCU, you have alarm unit.

If you followed the troubleshooting section, you’ll Ground out the oil temp sensor lead and do so continuity checks on the harness leading to the FCU.

I found both my temp sensor and FCU failed the checks. I Bought a used part (labeled as a 38710-hc5-971) to finally get the light to work–sadly this part would not get the fan to come on. I don’t know why so I hardwired it to a switch powered by the accessory circuit.

Ok the parts diagram shows 38710-hc5-971 as the FCU in the cooling fan IPB–my FCU is larger than the used part I purchased (shown in pic) And the harness is upside down so you have to roll it over to plug it in. I don’t know if I have the right part.

Ok gee I’m finally done editing this reply SMH

Hey @SamUK here’s the part number 38710-hc5-971 can you get one of these for me?

@Goober I’ve just started work, give me a few hours and I’ll have a look

Edit: Afterthought... If that part number relates to a Gen2 300 (93-97) then I have one in my parts boxes and one on my 300, both work.

Here’s a pic, you may be able to confirm this is the item before I get chance to. If this is the part PM me you address details and I’ll ship it out today at some point.
If this isn’t the correct part I know the one currently on my 300 works which I will be removing in a week or so time so I can send that one instead.
