as much as I am against adding extra wires and electrical devices on a bike that I am going in the water with , a brake tail light seems something that every bike should come with , just on a safety issue , I have been run into the back of my bike more times then I can remember on night rides , and I can't lie , I have run into the back of others many times
I thought all Honda's from early 2000's on had brake lights? I know the 300fw's didn't. But I thought when they went to the Rancher everything from then on did? My new Rubi has one. And IIRC my buddies 08 Rancher has one too.

I know my 01 Rancher doesn't have brake lights, but my 04 Rancher does, whether 04 was the first year for it with the remodel, or if they got it in 02 or 03 idk. The Rincon had them in 03, Foreman 450 might have got them in 02? Either way, any new Honda ATV you buy today will have them.

Exactly! I have lower back troubles, can't take those rear end hits on trail rides, so i always bring up the tail end. i did some research n learned honda made a add on brake light ,so i added one, anyways that light saved my can a few times sence i put it on, I'm not too sure what models honda made them for, it fit right on my rear rack like a puzzle piece !

My 2002 TRX450 doesn't have a brake light ----- Honda 300's built for Maine had a rear brake light that operated off a switch at the foot pedal , I tried to find and buy the parts to mod mine , but never did find it

use a brake switch from a '05 trx500fm, or any newer trx500 for that matter ?, pretty simple set-up switch, only problem I for-see is plugging it into the wire harness ? i'm sure you could figure that out. you would need the switch and the mounting plate, and sub-harness wire, then you can have a rear brake light. but you may have to re-wire the tail light with a different socket to accept a stop/tail light bulb ?, but that's easy.

Fish if you haven't got a light housing bulb etc, i know where there's two complete brake lights BUT nether has the clamping brackets , I'm going to take a drimmel cutting wheel and cut small slits in the brake bracket and put on some stainless hose clamps on, you could do yours like i did mine jus use the front brake t fitting and use a banjo switch, thing is it would just work with front brakes, i never liked the oem brakes on a 300 , but if i had front disk brakes thats what i would do, and I'm like you i couldn't find those switches to save my life, lol, shade the one on a 05 trx500fm ? Is that the same peddle switch as the 300 could have been ordered with back in the day ? I've had no luck with part numbers to match them up, did they ever make one for the left hand brake ? Haven't delt with many trx 500 s

I don't know if it's the same brake light switch bro ?. as far as the left brake lever ?, they have a micro switch that's attached to the brake lever, pull lever, button pops out, brake light comes on, this switch goes to the front right brake lever with wires, as it has a micro switch as well. the foot brake switch uses a plunger type switch, same switch that's been around for a long time, and still used today even on newer motorcycles as far as that goes.

Thanks bro, there is a 2 holes on my left Hand brake lever, right close to the chrome henge bolt you reckon that's where the switch goes,? i don't think I'll try and tackle running all that wire, lol, mine goes from the battery then fuse then the banjo switch then back to the light, only took me a couple hours to run my setup I'll snag a pic and post it hopefully someone can point out what that holes is in there for ? I've wandered about that for years, my old boss doesn't even know, I'm thinking those 2holes are for the left hand brake switch

Yawl , talking about something like in this pic of a 95 trx300fw/an I think this was a requirement by Maine = AN

that be the switch, but my '05 trx500fm uses a different mounting bracket. but pretty much the same plunger switch. it's adjusted by the lock down nut, which tells the spring how far the switch travels before it makes contact to apply the brake light.

if they are pin holes ?, then yeah, it's for a micro switch. Honda uses these same levers on tons of motorcycles, old and new, they just swap out the reverse lever part, and toss in the micro switch. there should be a small hole with threads ?, this holds the micro switch down.
