When i give it alot of gas it smokes and it smokes more bad in 1st gear than any. Idk if overfilled oil would cause it or not. it doesnt smoke real bad but its noticeable the exhaust has a kind of ticking sound too whats your guys opinion.

seeing how your posting in the mud section , chances are, you sank it ?, and instead of splitting the cases ( pulling the motor ), and cleaning it out real good, you just changed the oil a few times maybe ?, and now its smoking..right ?, welllllllllllllll, guess what !, its not that simple, if your gonna play ?, your gonna pay !..lol. this calls for a motor removal, split, cleaning/flushing out/rinsing ..nice and clean, putting back together with new rings, maybe new crank ?, maybe new cylinder ?, maybe new piston kit ?, maybe all of this ?. there is no cheap way to play in mud/water/lakes..or anywhere the motor goes under ?. hate to tell you this, but in order to fix the smoking ?, yu'll need to do/check/replace all of what i am saying.

Is the smoke/ticking something that just started randomly or a possible cause/effect as described by Shade? This question helps you and us in assisting with a possible solution.

WOW , I been on this forum for 5 years now and just learned today there is a " mud rider " section -------- since many of us around the country can't ride atv's on the pavement , black top or concrete roads , I thought everything was about MUD

420 , a over fueling carb will also cause it to smoke . Are you seeing a disappearance of oil between rides ? For your ticking problem , maybe valve adjustment , worn timing chain , or even as simple as a exhaust leak

When an engine is stopped via ingested water many things can occur including and not limited to bending a rod, valves, etc., and my guess would be something in the valve train. I suspect you need to dive into the engine and carefully go through everything carefully to get address any issues (valves, silt/sand throughout the engine, etc.) and then get it going again. Curious have you performed a compression test?

Yep, when you sink them more often than not flushing won't stop the engine from going downhill.

More than likely it's not using much oil right now but consumption will get worse with time.

Only way to fix it right it to tear the motor all the way down and clean it out, and then have the cylinder bored oversized with a new piston.
