i got a honda 300ex we put a new cam and rocker arms in the motor we put it all back togather and it started and run after a couple days i went to ride it and it wouldn't start it turns over but wont start i also cleaned out the carb does any one k now what might be wrong with it thanks

Do you have spark?Is it in reverse by chance?

i dont think it would be reverse, if mine is in reverse it wont turn over

Oh the 250's just have no spark in reverse.

yes there spark and its not in reverse i think it might be the vales

Try re adjusting them to .004 intake and exhaust , make sure your at TDC when you do it. I think you may be right?

When you installed the cam you did put it in Lobes down right?

yes we did , we went by the manual but i thought it was the crab but i cleaned it but that wasn't the problem my buddy thinks its the vales to

Your timing chain wasn't stretched, was it? It might have jumped time.

nope its tight we had a guy do it for us that worked at a honda shop so the timing should be fine now when i put the new rocker arms in i adjusted them but should i also adjust the vales also

Adjusting the rocker arms is the same thing as adjusting the valve clearance. That's how you adjust the valve clearance, is by adjusting the rocker arms.

oh ok im going to look at the rocker arms nut and see if any came lose

Did you buy a new cam and rockers or buy used like me? And if new did you let them break in properly?

the cam is used but like new and the rocker arms are new i didnt really get to brake them in Caz it stopped running before i got to brake them in

What kind of cam is it? Stock HotCam WebCam? Stage 1 2 3?

k im lost man there is no reason it should have died already! I was gunna say if it was a aftermarket cam it would need hardened rockers or the idle screw may need turned up?

ya been trying to figer it out i don't under stand why it died but im going adjust the vales again and see if every thing is tight thanks for the help
