I have a honda 300 and im trying to take the head off without taking the the engine off is this possible and if so any advise on how to go about it

welcome to the forums..yes..the top end can come off with the motor still in the frame..just remove the top engine mounts..remove the rocker box cover...there is going to be two long rocker cover bolts that will be kinda near the edge of the frame..remove the others..and kinda slide the rocker cover over a tad..this will give you enough room to remove the long bolts..after that..it'a all down hill...if you need any more help..or have some questions..fill free to ask.

Welcome to the forums. I agree, it will come off without taking the engine out of the frame. That's another great thing about the Fourtrax 300, you can do most any type of work to them short of splitting the case, with the engine still in the frame.
