Looking for help. I removed my carb and cleaned it and my atv ran fine for a few days. I tried to start it today and I have the same problem it will not start with out starting fluid. I was looking for a new carb but I am not sure what kind to get. The carb says keihin on the side but not sure where to look. Forgot to mention its a 1987. Thanks

I did clean all the jets and all the passages but I did not add a fuel filter. Do I need to add one? Can I pick on up at local auto parts store or do I need to get one from the honda dealer? I did drain the gas tank to make sure I had all the old fuel out and I was hoping if the tank had anything in it then it would have run out.

Get a can of seafoam dump about a half of a can in the tank then fill up the tank start it up and just ride for a bit the seafoam will destroy any deposits left behind. is this a 250X? if so it's a 36mm carb and any carb from 300ex up to 400ex will work you will just have to re-jet on the 400ex carb

Thanks for all the reply's. I wanted to find out when I cleaned my carb I did not put a rebuild kit in I was going to get one off ebay but I thought I would try to clean it first. Should I get a rebuild kit and put it in before the sea foam? What come's in a carb rebuild kit and when do you know when to use one. Thanks again

Just about any time you have carb trouble and rebuild it you need a rebuild kit, but do your self a favor and go to a Honda dealer and buy it.

When you rebuild the carburetor there are small holes in the carb that are designed for the vapors from the gas if those are blocked your chock will not work but, when you those are clear it will start surprisingly easier.

Agreed^^^^^ don't skimp on parts bro I would seriously try cleaning it out with seafoam first before you tear it apart... You might be surprised what seafoam can do.

Well I just wanted to say thanks for all the reply's. I took the carb apart again and cleaned it and added a inline fuel filter. Cleaned all the jets so I could see light thru them. Has anyone ever added a inline fuel filter and turn the gas on and no gas goes in the new filter? I had to remove the hose and dump gas in the new filter to. It took many kicks to get it started but it finally started and ran good in 1st and 2nd then 3rd back fired bad so I adjusted the air mix and it seems better and after it was warm it would kick over on the first kick. I just tried to start it again after a few hours and it took a few kicks and it started any other ideas? I called the honda dealer here and they said honda does not sell any rebuild kits for the carb just parts but he said to give it time and see if anything show's up in the new filter from the tank. The other thing he said was to change the battery so I don't have to kick start it. I filled the tank with new gas and sea foam to see if that would help.
