Here is a link that shows how to make a homemade Honda differential lock nut tool. This tool is used to remove the pinion shaft from any Honda front or rear differential, so you can replace the bearings or gears. Also, I think this tool will work for most other brands of ATV

Pop out the seal..

Remove the large retainer nut..

Using the holder remove the pinion nut ..

Then pull the pinion ..

The small pinion bearing comes out by working the retainer ring to the hole
and bending the tip up and pulling it out with needle nose plyers or needle
nose vice grips..The hole can be just seen thru the dirt..

This rear end had All Balls rear end kit installed..

nice post helmut..but..if you don't have a welder..a 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 square tubbing works just as good..thats what i use :).

sweet info!! i have a quick question, does the pinion gear nut unscrew clockwise or counter-clockwise??? someone please help
It turns counterclockwise to loosen.
