Fishfiles, I am one of them girls that ride too, in the good ole southern state of GA! I have been riding bike, dirt and street and rode atv a few times and now am in the process of finding one to call my own! I will be looking at a 2001 Formeman S on Saturday morning, though it has an issue of being stuck in 4 WD. The guy says cable is broke. I know the slight knocking from engine is most likely valves needing adjusting!

I will be sure to post pics if I get to bring it home :)

Thanks for the welcome!

welcome. knocking sound means crank, clicking sound means valves or cam chain ?. the trx450S foremans are great atvs..that is ...if its still built right, running good , and no motor work is needed ?, if it passes all of this ?, then you did great !. remove the 424, go back to full time 4wd, call it a day.

Nice , 2001 stuck in 4wd because of a broken cable could only mean a 4x2 kickout has been installed , you can get a rebuild kit for that 4x2 for about $120 , it makes the bike so much more fun and easier to ride with a kickout ----knocking doesn't sound too good and could be the crankshaft/connecting rod , a crank is about $400 by itself , I'd be careful on that one
