I just got a 2004 400 Honda rancher automatic/electric off someone and when I put it in gear there’s this wining sound and she won’t move was wondering if someone could help me out on finding out what is causing this thanks

I am not a 400 guy , but have read thru many threads and recently stood at a Holiday Inn , think you might need one of these

I once stayed at a Holiday Inn too, even left all of the towels & remaining soaps and toilet paper in the room! 
Check the motor oil level on the dipstick 1st. Note the color of the oil... does it look clean or is it blackened? Fill it to the proper level if it is low. Then take the oil filter cover off and make sure that the oil filter wasn't installed backwards by the owner (or yourself?) during the last oil change.
If all appears well so far, you'll have to determine whether the clutch is fried (most likely) or the Hondamatic trans (next likely) is damaged. Report back with your findings.

Sounds like it could be the oil level like retro said. Had a couple of these & if it was low, the trans would make a grinding scraping noise. Make sure you check it with the dipstick out. If that isnt the cure, post your results.
