I have a 2004 trx250ex and its been great for the couple months or so.
When i got it in April, it wasn't starting and running good so i brought it to a local shop, he diagnosed a carb issue, cleaned it out, adjusted it, and it was running and starting great! Its been like that up until the other day.
I went for a ride just this morning, it seemed like it was having trouble starting up, but it eventually did (i think it's a bad battery, but i dont have my multimeter on me now to test it) and i took it for a ride. When i got to the area I normally go, and made the turn in, (3rd or 4th gear i'd say) it started stalling, i downshifted and gave it some gas but it didn't work. She stalled :(
(I was unable to restart it (i'm assuming because of the battery?) and so i had it jumped and rode it home, and it rode great.
When i got it to the house, i took it for a little ride in the back, and when i give it gas, it hesitates for a second, and then goes like normal.
That happens in most of the gears as well.
Before today and the other day, i could have it sitting there idling in 3rd and it wouldn't stall, but lately just going a little slower in 3rd it starts to stall.

The quad is all stock engine wise.
And the only thing I've done lately was adjusting the throttle cable in the throttle lever housing, but after it was giving me trouble the last couple days, i un-adjusted it, and the problem continues.
Any input will be appreciated, if any more info is required feel free to ask.
Thanks.

I believe the gas i got says something like "may contain up to 10% ethanol" but nothing like the E85 stuff. And i usually mix in some seafoam with my gas

I would try to find gas with NO ETHANOL, Since they started putting ethanol in the gas I have seen numerous quads act like this.

I would try the gas without ethanol and it that doesn't fix it, I would clean the carb again.

well, i just called a local gas station and he informed me that here in CT, and most New England, it's federal regulation now for gas to be a percentage ethanol. So it looks like ethanol-free is not for me :/

I just took it for a little spin and i didn't have any stalling issues, and the hesitation wasn't as bad or as noticeable... so that's strange.
However, I did notice a different sound...
I was seeing if it would try to stall out in a higher gear at low speed, and when i was in 5th, or sometimes 4th, starting out from a stop or slow speed, about halfway through the gear i could hear something. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it. The first time i heard it I thought i had blown out a tire, it was like a slapping/ clapping sound almost. It almost sounded like it was coming from the exhaust though...
I'm not sure what that's all about.

The next best thing to 100% gas is to try Quickshot SE from AMSOIL. This just came out a couple of months ago. This was made specifically for small engines/powersports equipment to fight the bad effects of ethanol. I just started using it a couple of weeks ago, so right now I don't have much personal experience with it yet.

An 8oz bottle will treat up to 12 gallons of gas.

Let me know if you would like a quote.
