you say gas and oil leaking out the oil compartment , do you mean the crankcase , if so then what may have happened is the carb leaked fuel into the engine , there might be gas on top the piston locking it up , try removing the spark plug and spinning it over

I rode it the day before but not hard. I was trying out some new loading ramps befor I bought a recon. I’ve had carb problems about 10 months ago just got a new one. Is that normal to replace them that often? I should probably get a new air filter and spark plugs.

I don’t which thread to answer. it sounds like FF has helped you identify that the carb float valve did not properly stop the fuel flow. The carb should be rebuilt.

Sounds like fuel flowed into the engine and through valves into the cylinder.

Yes do not try to start the engine. Yet. pull the spark plus drain all the fluids out. With plug out cycle the engine and let all fluid squirt out the plug hole. Leave it out and let the cylinder dry. You will have to put fresh oil in the engine probably a couple times.
Each time you put in fresh oil You should be able to rotate the engine using the kick start. If there is fuel in the case and you try to start it, will pump fuel into the top end and oil cooler if you have one. So best to try and get as much out the first time as you can.

I would not use the electrical starter the first oil change. If you do leave the kill switch in kill position. Don’t run the starter more than 5-10 sec without giving it a cool down cycle. Leave the oil in for a day, then drain it and see if smells like fuel.

Let’s see what other members say.

Ok. I’ve got an identical machine (1987) my son rides. Turn fuel off. You definitely have a bad needle/seat in the carb. Sometimes a good cleaning fixes it, but a rebuild kit is CHEAP. Pull plug, change oil, kick it over a few times and be done (remember, fuel is still OFF. Reinstall plug and ride.
Word of advise, always always always turn fuel off after riding. Never leave it to chance....ever.
