Im stuck on making a decision, what would be better for woods riding with a bunch of hill climbs and all sorts of Terrain and hitting a mx track? Im stuck between a suzuki ltr450 and the Honda trx450.. what one has a beater suspension? And the faster acceleration?

I have no experience with either and after doing some searching it appears some readings suggest the Suzuki is a bit faster, and "IF" that is true, I would not be surprised as Honda tends to lean more towards governing speed on various units they produce. Personally, I like Honda and believe it would be a great unit for you, tons of fun, and highly reliable for many years to come, so I don't see a downside. However, if you are planning on riding and trying to outrun everyone out there on the MX track, then you might consider looking across all the units including and not limited to Yamaha as well.

Honda 400ex.....BUT.....The early models don't have reverse.... just a heads up

They are cheap and easy to upgrade if you would like..... They are low maintenance if you treat it right.....

The 450's are known for there nice front suspension.... a lot of people for the 450 front shocks on the 400's

If this is your first quad I wouldn't buy the 450.... thats a lot of power for a beginner... but hey it's your money you do what you want :).

^^^ What he said plus a few things!

The 450's are mostly liquid cooled race oriented bikes.

Yeah they are faster than the 400's, but not in every scenario.

The 400EX has a reputation for being a great trail quad with low end torque that helps you putt around at lower speeds.

The 450's usually have a high power band requiring more revs, and aren't as trail riding or pleasure riding oriented.

They will also require more maintenance... a lot more lol.

The air-cooled 400cc unit in the 400EX is known for it's reliability and ease of maintenance.

If and when you decide it needs more power, you can upgrade the motor with some big bore kits and make it a screamer.

Yep ^^^ a lot of people put bigger bores on the 400's I have a 16cc bore kit on my 400... but they also make a 44cc if you want even more power.... Great bike all around...since people upgrade them you can find really nice used parts if you break something.... also just because its a 450 doesn't mean its faster....it has a higher top speed then the 400 BUT my 416 rekts my buddies fully built 450.... Just something to keep in mind.... also in my state 400's are all over craigslist... you can find them very cheap.....

The ltr is in all honesty a very good quad right off the bat. Here is the problem you and anyone else in your shoes is gunna have. Any 450 besides the kfx is a race bike. So no reverse. That being said you are gunna struggle to find one that hasnt been raced. They dont make any of the 450s besides the yfz brandnew anymore. So your gunna get someones race bike or practice bike. Thats all fine and dandy as long as they kept up with the maintanance. Which they didnt. Because honestly no one ever does. So be prepared to rebuild it or fix the issues that you over looked. My best advice is dont get caught up in how fast it is. That makes you overlook problems. Start by inspecting everything. Check to see if its ever thrown a chain. Signs of bad mantainance right there. Check all the bearings and bushings. Again anything excessivley loose bad maintanance. You will inevitably end up over looking something. Dont miss the real big ones. Frame straight? Cracked? Anything along those lines? I got tired of looking at so many ragged out 450s i went with the 400 and built it to fit me like a glove. My .02
