400EX I've been rebuilding long however the winter since both Grandma's passed away of cancer within 2 months lost job havnt been able to ride the thing and it's my way of letting loose you know what I mean but anyhow wiring issues I had a spare four wheeler I've been swapping parts for from I bought a wiring harness but spliced all the wires because I had all the other wires to all my other statter and everything else flies because I didn't have money to work to get new parts so I've been trying to make things work really starting to lose it here the new coil on I have a pro armor tether problem is I'm not getting spark I need to know how to wire this thing with all my spliced wires I don't care how it goes together if it looks needed not just as long as it stays together and will run if I could push it down a hill and popping into second gear and down the hill I go I'm happy but I need to know what color wires splice go together to bypass most of my controls my ignition controls cuz I'm one spark without having to have a battery I don't care how I got to wire together or what but I really need some help here guys and I've been trying different things went threw stator but as of now I have neutral light problem now is hooking up to charger to jump motor it ingaged starter clutch was happy with the half turnover till clutch spun again tired of surgery

Sorry for your loss man, that’s a bad run of luck for sure. Cancer sucks, I’ve lost too many loved ones to the same cruel disease.

As for the wiring, I hate dealing with hacked up spliced up harnesses. Your best bet is to just buy a good used or new harness that hasn’t been hacked on and start with that. It’s well worth the investment, may save your sanity lol.

Yeah real sorry to here about your bad luck lately. Wire harness hacking is nothing i suggest anyone ever to do. You are going to need a wireing diagram for starters. And even with that this is going to be a nightmare. Welcome to the forums! You came to the right place for sure!

PS. Hope you dont mind but i edited your thread title because instead of "boys it aint good". It said boys taint good. And that was just odd so i changed it quick lol

Very sorry for you loses , I was very close to y Grandmother . if you are going to patch the harness it would be best if you can solder all the splices and not use butt connectors , they will cause you problems in the future

Very sorry for your losses. I think a lot of us here can relate with you on needing to get out and ride for our own sanity. Lots of good advice here from these guys, but looks to me like a replacement harness may be the best bet.

You can actually tell most voice recognition typing which punctuation to use and it can do it. Or at least hit return button between thoughts to create a new paragraph. Not a huge deal, but might be easy enough for you

Already have new harness but my question is I guess is I need to eliminate the neutral switch and clutch switch I believe I wire two colored wires ? Or ground them out ? Also do I have to have a tether kill on ? And does it matter on where green eye off coil goes? And what about my green w white stripe wire doesn't it go somewhere special ? Also I have it turning over with button neutral light on and key works. Would timing be off ? Cause this I have new harness, new coil , checked stator the cdi unit that was on it is dynatek fs digital ? Plus when I bought quad it had push button and a power coil with prongs I got rid of spider web mess I have done this multiple times but only forgot secret wire code lol but thanks for help to who's willing nice to hear from the go getters ;)

Ok im gunna answer in order they were asked.

Neutral safety switch gets grounded. (But you said you have it turning over so that must already be done)

The clutch switch can go either way. (Depending how you want it) if you leave the 2 wires seperated it will only start in neutral period. Put them togeather it will start in any gear.

You dont have to have a teather kill if you dont race (most require it)
There are 2 types of these switches (a powered switch or a grounded switch) one has power constantly and when you pull the teather it breaks the connection to the coil. The other will go one side to ground and one side to a specific wire and ground it.(i have the other kind so i dont know off hand which wire)

The ground wire or "eye" as you called it can go anywhere that gets a clean ground to bare metal on the frame preferably.

Green with white im not sure on? Havent seen a green with white anywhere on my quad that i can think of.

As far as timing goes there is no adjustable ignition timing on these quads, there is a megnetic pick up on the flywheel that sets spark timing. Now that woodruff key could be sheered and make it not spark in time but thats about it.

I had the same dynaFS cdi and it made my quad run really really weird. Starting was a pain. It would idle all over then place. I suggest getting a stock cdi box.

reminds me of times that the coffee gets me. ever so often, a couple of cups, sends me into a yackity mode, like kids on big red. i think i still feel the after effects..
after exercising, a horse on a hot day in ocala florida, i would drink a cold coke, 12oz., if that wasnt enough, i would start on another. the 2nd was the clincher, my jaw would start locking up and go nearly into a tooth grinding.
