I you can see, I'm new to this site. I picked up this 3-wheeler today and have no idea what year it is or what size engine it has. This is what I know:

-Electric and pull start
-4 speed manual transmission w/o clutch
-front and rear drum brakes
-10" wide front tire
-12" wide rear tires
-chain drive

Here are some pics:

That's an ATC200. It's not a 1955, probably about 1985.

Keep looking on the frame or motor the id and year should be visible somewhere unless peeled off or something. Cool find! Be careful on that thing so 3 wheelers are a different beast.

I read a brochure for the ATC200ES and the high/low shifter is wrong so it must be a 1982 or 1983 ATC200E. What kind of oil do you run in these engines?
Honda GN4 is recommended, but whatever kind you use, make sure it is designed for wet clutch systems.

So the clutch uses the same oil as the engine?

The 1984 Fourtrax 200 4-wheeler came out with the same engine as that with the high/low/reverse shifter, but the shifter was different. It was in the same place, but it had a round, black knob that you pull up on and then shift it.

Thanks for the link. The manual says to use Honda 4-stroke SAW 10W-40. Is that the same as GN4?
Yeah, it's the same. Honda GN4 10W-40.

Because the clutch is submerged in the engine oil, you have to use oil designed for wet clutch systems. If you don't, your clutch will start slipping in a short amount of time.

The sticker in pic. #2 says 200E. I think think they were made for 2 yrs. 82-83 or 83-84. They are like a early big red.
Yeah, it does say 200E and they were made from '82-'83.
