Hello there, ok just put the motor back in after a shifting problem and now it starts and go down the road get to 3rd gear and it died and would not start. look at it and find a blown 10 amp fuse then put a 15 amp in because it was all i had and started right up again, went down the street and got to 2nd gear it died again and blow that fuse and would not start.
also i put a used wiring harness for the reverse/neutral/temp lights from ebay could that be it or something else??

Also check the ground cable connections on the motor and the frame. And verify that the harness you replaced is the same exact OEM part number as the original. Keep us updated if you can...

EDIT:
All the lights should work and be bright with the motor running. Are they? Does the same 10 amp IGN fuse blow when turning on the head/tail lights? Careful about putting 15 amp fuses in a 10 amp circuit... your Ignition switch is handling all of that current and can/will fry it.

Only blowing the fuse in 3rd gear is an oddball... Is there a gear indicator on the end of the shift drum in the 350 Rancher motor? I never had one of those motors apart yet... but sounds like something got put back together wrong? You can get the FSM for it HERE if you need one.

Hi: Unplug the connector to the ECU -- Check for corrosion on the connector and the pins of the ECU.

Will it blow the fuse with the motor not running ,key switch on and in third gear , if so what I might do is , pull the fuse that blows , put the two probes from a ohm meter into the two terminals where the fuse was , start disconnecting electrical plugs till you find the one that makes the continuity go away , then you will know where the problem is , even if it doesn't blow the fuse not running , you could start the engine , put it in third with the meter attached and do the same thing
