I just purchased a 1988 honda trx 300,with many missing parts. The question i have is there is a lever by the neutral/reverse switches for a cable hook up .Can anyone tell me how it's suppose to hook up. How is the cable routed to the lever? could someone take a picture so i can see the proper set up? Thanks

Welcome to the forum. The reverse lever is under the oil dipstick.

Welcome to the forums! You picked up one hell of a machine! I have the exact same model. (unless yours is 4x4) But either way they are pretty much the same. We'll help you get that beast pieced back together and running strong.

Thanks to ebay I have found most of the needed parts.I'm just trying to figure out the little things ,like the reverse cable. It looks like i need a bracket to hold the cable to the engine block. Here's a stupid question. Why do you have the cable ,when you have the reverse on the pedal? When i test drove the atv the reverse worked or thats if my memory serves me right it worked?

Yeah, you will need the bracket that bolts to the side cover. That's where the cable bolts to and is also where you adjust the cable. The reverse is on the shifter, but the lever is a safety. Before the shifter will go down past neutral into reverse, the left hand/brake lever has to pull the cable and pull the reverse lever up. Otherwise it won't go into reverse. Just a safety feature.

I'm really loving the blue! I thought about painting mine blue also. I know honda is usually red but it was a factory color and I love blue.
I love that blue color, also. The blue ones are rare. I haven't seen many of them.
