Hello to all. I grew up riding Honda Big Red 3-wheelers 1985 & 1986 models. Managed to find a 1986 250 Fourtrax 4-wheeler recently and have had fun remembering the way a Honda rides.

Great machine but am currently having some carb problems.

Found this forum and hope to have fun learning about Honda!

The carb is dumping too much gas and causing it to not run properly. Black fumes just pour out when started. The plug fouled quickly and now it will not stay running at all. I ran this machine for the whole summer with the only problem being the excessive gas (maybe a mistake?).

Changed the oil recently and it had a stale gas smell but it uses no oil.

The fuel petcock is now leaking but I found one online reasonable.

I think I'll take it to someone and see about a fix.

Take the carb off and give it a good cleaning, while your at it you may as well rebuild it, quite simple, You got a float sticking right now , but a good cleaning may do the trick. you also can drop the bowl and spray carb cleaner all up inside to see if that helps.
