Yup, another newbie.. My name is Dan and I live out in the country just North of the Ohio border in Southeast Michigan on 50 acres of woods & trails.

Bought a new Honda 300 in '95 (still starts on the first revolution), have no idea how many miles or hours are on it, didn't have those luxuries back then.

In '02 two daughters, son & myself bought new Honda Rubicons. Son-in-law had a Forman 450 and I bought my wife a Rancher 400 GPS in '04 so for a time I had 7 Hondas in the barn. We have riden most of the trails in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and a lot in the Lower, Northern Colorado and the Wayne National Forest in Southern Ohio several times. I also take at least one on our annual elk hunt in Western Colroado each year.

One daughter and Son-in-law took theirs to Arizona when they moved there in '07 and the other daughter lost hers in a divorce trade off. So now I'm down to our 3 and sons here on the farm.

Up until now none have ever been back to the dealer for anything in the way of repairs or maintaince (knocks on wood..) but I now have a issue with the Rancher 400 so here I am.

I'll go do some reading on the forums and find the proper thread to post my problem and see if anyone can help.

Hope to see some of you on the trails, Dan

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome.

I think I found my problem in some of the very firsts posts in the Rancher fourm. In AT mode in D it will move forward but it will stay in a lower range, it rev's up fine but doesn't get going very fast, and doesn't indicate D, N or R on the display, just " - - ". In reverse in AT mode it just chugs W/O reving up and will not move. In ESP mode there is nothing

I'll start tomorrow with finding any codes then the connections to the shift motor and then the motor itself. I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks again.
