hello everybody my name is jason,,i own a 1998 300ex i purchased new in 1998 when i was 18 years old..i was making 4wheeler payments before i had a car,lol,,,anyway a wife and 3 kids and 12 yrs later i still have my 300ex but its sat in the carport for 5 years and i havent touched it at all for 2yrs.well i dragged it out last week to bring her back to life..

a little history is its bone stock and actually never got its 30 hr valve adjustment 12 yrs ago,,only thing ive done is when the stock tires on the back wore out i replaced with the shorter 400ex tires (at the time),well this of course changed my gear ratio pretty bad so to try and get it back as close as stock i dropped back sprocket from 38 to 36 and it worked perfect

so now im working on a new carrier and new tires and a battery..wish me luck

Welcome to the site man, and good luck getting it back together. First things first, remove the tank and get some cleaner for it. All the motor work in the world is useless if you send trash into the Carb. Also, unplug all the terminals for electronics and spray contact cleaner in them to get them clean, then a fresh coat of lithium grease. A new set of battery cables is probably in order too....

AS for the Beach this summer, hopefully the army gives me some of a break to get some hours on my new 400, so maybe I'll see you there...

OH my time here in the 'Stan is almost done, just have a bunch of training schools to attend in the 5 months after I get back
