Hey guys, well never thought I would but I bought my self a 2008 honda rancher 420es. Have had yamahas and can ams my whole life but never a honda. Anyways seems like a solid machine but I do have a few questions.

What oils do you use from engine to diffs?

Also I know the ES machines have some shifting issues. On mine it goes through all the gears when standing still but once moving, it doesn't like going from 1st to 2nd until your almost at a dead stop and sometimes their is a delay for some of the higher gears. Any input would be perfect!

thanks guys.

Welcome aboard! And if there is one thing I have found out is that the ES has to have a top performing battery. As soon as mine declined the smallest bit I noticed the shifts becoming sloppy.

There are a number of engine oils you can use depending on the ambient temperature where you use it. Engine oil is 10w-40 for all of mine (and my average temperature). From 1986 (trx200sx) through 2000 (450 foreman) models. Diff fluid is 80w-90 (GL5?) for all except my 86s which have chains.

This pic came from the 1999 Foreman 400 User Manual, but the graphic is the same as in my 1986 trx200sx user manual.
